An Elegant Hawaiian 40th Birthday

Writer's picture: Stephanie SvedinStephanie Svedin

Planning and organizing this Hawaiian birthday celebration for Anne, a single working mother, was truly delightful. My aim was to make her feel cherished, especially considering her fondness for Hawaii from her recent trip. I mean, who wouldn't want to go back there, right?

At the conclusion of the post, you will discover a list of the skilled vendors along with links to some of the items used to create this stunning event or click here.

Here is the birthday girl with some of her friends

I created the lovely floral arrangements that adorned the guest tables. They were inspired by a design from Daydream Studio, particularly the clever incorporation of Young Thai Coconuts.

While the birthday girl adores greens and blues, I decided to introduce a touch of coral as an additional color. The transparent plates on top provided a subtle way to incorporate this pop of color without overpowering the overall look, while also complementing the floral arrangements.

I designed this larger floral display for the dessert table.

The dessert table was brimming with delicious treats. Each dessert contributed to the Hawaiian theme, from the cake's decorations to the starfish-shaped cookies and the piña colada macarons.

The cake showcased edible snapshots of Anne's recent Hawaiian getaway. Beck Engraving Design Studio created the acrylic cake topper and a versatile number set ranging from 0 to 9, designed to complement the 'Happy Birthday' topper. This adaptable set allows for age customization.

Macarons By Breanna made these irresistible macarons. They taste as exquisite as they look. The white ones boast a pina colada flavor, while the light turquoise ones are a delightful strawberry lemon. Simply scrumptious!

Stacie of Whip it Custom Cookies showcases her incredible talent with these hand-piped Hawaiian-themed sugar cookie set. These cookies are not just visually stunning, but also scrumptious. They strike the perfect balance with a soft cookie base that complements the typically crunchy royal icing, which remains delightfully crisp without being overly hard.

Changing Faces and Balloons created a stunning balloon display, featuring a palette of blues and greens, accented with blush pink and coral. Sharon from Changing Faces and Balloons perfectly executed the color scheme, ensuring the balloons concealed the ties supporting the Hawaiian backdrop with finesse.

As the party was about to begin, it was also the perfect moment to switch on the Edison bulbs, which complemented the beach/Hawaiian theme beautifully.

I completely forgot to snap photos of the scrumptious spread! My sous-chef (aka my husband) and I whipped up the feast for the lively gathering. Our menu featured tender baby back ribs, aromatic rosemary potatoes, char-grilled pineapple, and a medley of grilled veggies. Plus, the birthday girl's mom contributed homemade rolls and irresistible virgin piña coladas. Those piña coladas were simply heavenly!
